By Curtis Matthews – Telecom Manager | Mobilewiseguy.com
As a telecom manager, one of the first things I do when reviewing a company’s wireless account is cut through the waste and confusion.
Most telecom management companies charge high fees for this service. I don’t. I know the AT&T system inside and out, and I make sure my clients get the best deal without overspending on unused lines or overpriced plans.
Identifying Wasted Wireless Lines
Recently, I reviewed an account with 50+ unused lines that had been active but unused for more than six months.
That equals thousands of wasted dollars. My first step is always eliminating those extra lines so businesses only pay for what they actually use.
The Hidden Cost of 2-Year Contracts
This client was also signing 2-year contracts on new phones. The issue is this: on current AT&T plans like Unlimited Your Way or Mobile Select,
a contract adds $25 per month to the line for the full 24 months. This is how AT&T subsidizes phones, and over time it adds up fast.
Example: iPhone 16e
2-Year Contract: $0.99 upfront, plus $25 extra per month on the plan.
After 24 months, that’s $600.99 (plus tax on $0.99).
Installments (24 months): Plan stays the same. $2.99 x 24 months = $71.76
(plus tax on $599.99 retail price). Most AT&T promotions
(and most carrier promotions in general) are tied to installment plans, making this the more cost-effective path for many businesses.
The difference is huge when managing dozens or hundreds of wireless lines.
You can see all current AT&T business device prices here for both installment and 2-year contract options.
These are base prices only and do not include promotional offers. Most promotions are applied through installment plans.
Going Beyond Standard Telecom Management
Most “telecom management companies” only generate reports and charge fees without addressing wasted lines or costly contract terms.
They miss hidden charges and plan increases that slowly eat your budget.
I do things differently. I specialize in optimizing every AT&T wireless plan, every line, and every device purchase so your business saves money.
In some cases, turnkey retention plans are available that can reduce costs on 2-year contracts if the account qualifies.
I know exactly how to spot those opportunities and request them for my clients.
