Based on a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Clearwire plans to introduce new, pay-as-you-go WiMax service in the near future. The company, which called for a press conference on Monday, August 30 , is building out a WiMax network in cooperation with Sprint. Sprint and Clearwire’s WiMax covers 49 markets in the U.S., but still only a handful of devices — including just two phones – The company they form to rollout WiMax is Clear.com.

A group of six technology industry associations are trying to get the U.S. House and Senate Judiciary Committees to mandate FM radio chips to be place in mobile devices. I can’t believe a group could force what should or shouldn’t be place in our cell phones. Why don’t we just force Apple to put Flash in the iPhone or RIM to use the Android platform.
Read more on FM radios in cell phones. I do see and have a use for the FM radio. When I go to LA Fitness the televisions all have a FM frequency that you can tune into to hear what ever program is playing on them.

traveling overseas and want to use a sim card from that country

When traveling overseas one of the best ways to save money on roaming fees is to buy an unlocked GSM cell phone and use a prepaid sim card from that country that you are visiting. Prepaid cell phone service is sold everywhere overseas in the airport and almost every corner block. The calls are much less expensive and most of the time you have unlimited incoming calls. The last time I went to Trinidad I spent $30 for the sim card and my minutes for the two weeks I was over there. If I had used my regular phone roaming it would of cost me $2 a minute and with all the calls I made my bill would have been in the hundreds for the roaming cost. I unlocked my Blackberry Bold 9000 before I went and used a sim card from Bmobile a local wireless carrier.

An unlocked cell phone can use any sim card from any GSM wireless provider. One of the important things to look for in an unlocked cell phone is the GSM frequency. Some GSM cell phone have one or two frequencies like the Motorola F3. The Motorola F3 is 850/1900 a 2 band phone that would work on any GSM provider in the United States since the U.S. only use two GSM bands 850/1900 it would not be a problem. AT&T uses 850/1900 and T-Mobile uses 1900 GSM networks but countries like Europe and the rest of the world use sometimes the 900 or the 1800 GSM networks.

Now the best phone to have for roaming is the quad band GSM, which is used for global calls where GSM network coverage is present. The Motorola V3 Razr works on these GSM Networks: GSM 850, 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. The Quad band GSM phone is always the best type of unlocked cell phone for traveling.

Blackberry devices are being exported

posted by Admin 11:32 AM
Tuesday, December 8, 2009

The new Blackberry Bold 9700 and all at&t Blackberry devices went on sale a couple of days ago. This sparked a buying frenzy for anyone interrested in getting a Blackberry but it also boosted the export market for the Blackberry Devices.
A few weeks ago I sold my Blackberry Bold 9000 for &250 on Craigslist.org. I got many calls for my Blackberry and I inquired why there were a few guys buying up all the used Blackberry devices for sale. I found out these guys were buying for export to Venezuela. The market for Blackberry devices in South America is huge and the devices cost a lot more there than it cost in the United States. I then checked with some of my friends who are in the cell phone export business and they confirmed that they have orders prepaid for thousands of Blackberry 9700s. Now that the Blackberry devices are less expensive for the next few weeks the market is jumping at this oppertunity and buying up all they can before the price goes back up.

The blackberry 9700 was selling wholesale for $450 now they are selling for $360 wholesale. This leaves a huge mark up for exporters in South America. The Blackberry 9700 sells whole sale in Venezuela for around $600+
