I just got an interesting call from Blackberry support they wanted to inform me of the new updates. I don’t use a Blackberry currently so I was a little confused why the called me and it was because I have written a few post about Blackberry in the past. I told the representative that I did buy a Blackberry Playbook recently and wanted to know about the update that is coming out and if it will bring the Android Market to the Playbook. I was told yes it will have the ability to use Android application but not all the applications at the beginning. Each application has to go through a approval with Blackberry before being allowed on the Blackberry Playbook. I ask about the camera on the Playbook because I was very upset to find out that the only video conference application was from Playbook to Playbook only. I was hoping Skype would work with the new update but it will not at the beginning until Microsoft which owns Skype and Blackberry work out the details. The Blackberry representative did tell me he uses Real Portal to Video chat with someone using a Apple iPad now.
The Blackberry Bold and the Torch will get an update that will allow Near Field Communications, Wifi calling and Mobile Hotspot capabilities. This update will first be available for Verizon Wireless and Sprint Blackberry devices.

The future is data service in real time and LTE is the pathway that most of the world is choosing to follow.

Verizon Wireless plans to have shared data plans for the family. Great news for a family of 5 all with smarthphones. Currently each line carrying a smartphone requires a data package of $30 for 2 GB of data. So if I have 5 lines on my family plan with data that’s an extra $150 a month.
Now in the coming days we will be able to pick a bucket of data and all lines can share the data.

If Verizon Wireless uses the same packages as they have now 5 lines can share 2 GB for $30, 5 GB for $50 or 10 GB for $80. That’s a huge saving over the current data plans. The overage I think will still be $10 a GB over the alloted amount. I also think they will include simple phones on the family pan that also can share in this bucket of data.

I don’t recommend the $30 data package for more than 3 smarthphones unless you are using a Blackberry or you know that this package will cover your needs. You can always check your usage online with an Verizon Wireless usage application or by dialing #data (#3282) send from your device.

The promo data plan for simple phones ends September 30th it was extended another monthst and I think right after that the shared data plans will be offered.

I had a client call me a few days ago asking me how to forward their home phone to their Sprint phone so they would not get charged for long distance calls. I said to them you don’t get charged for incoming calls because the person who calls you pays the international long distance charges.
I was wrong Sprint does charge for international calls incoming or outgoing. When i called customer service to clarify this the Sprint representative said yes and asked what country would be calling me. I used Trinidad as an example because that is my country of birth. The cost of calls incoming or outgoing to Trinidad would be $1.99 a minute.
Sprint must be banking on these incoming international calls, I can’t see how that would cost them anymore than any other incoming call. I receive international calls on my Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile phones without having any extra charges so why does Sprint charge? I guess any extra revenue stream helps the bottom line.

Stupid move for Blackberry they specialize in security and privacy. Now this shows everyone nothing is private or secure even on the Blackberry devices.
I had praised Blackberry months ago when they would not let other countries bully them into sharing information. These countries are in the middle east and they wanted to monitor everything sent and received by Blackberry users.
Blackberry sales are on the decline and the only thing they have above the rest of the pack like Android, Apple and Windows is the secure system they have, now it seems its not so secure.

So I had a contact form added by my web guy and then I added a Google Voice widget that calls my phone. The widget is great because it gives me control of my calls and eliminates a lot of spam. If I put my phone number on the site I would get text and calls from spammers.
Check it out send me a message or call me.

Verizon Wireless will end the unlimited data smartphone feature on July 6th 2011. The feature is $29.99 now for unlimited data usage and after July 6th customers will be able to pick from three packages.

$30 for 2 GB of data $10 a GB for any overages
$50 for 5 GB of data $10 a GB for any overages
$80 for 10 GB of data $10 a GB for any overages
‘
What does that mean for Verizon Wireless current customers is if you already have the unlimited data feature you will be able to keep it (grandfather in) but after July 6th current and new customers looking to get into a smartphone will only have one of the three options above to pick from.

My recommendation is anyone that streams a lot of media like music and videos should jump on the unlimited data option now before its too late.

What I am hoping is with the new data plans families now can share data. If you had a family plan with 5 smartphones now you are paying $29.99 times 5 smartphones close to $150 a month for the data feature only on the smartphones but after July 6th you can spend $30 and share 2 Gigabytes of data between the 5 smartphones. I don’t recommend the 2 Gigabytes for 5 smartphones thats not much data to share unless the smartphones are Blackberry devices the other two higher data plan options should cover most users.

After July 6th 2011

$30 gives you a monthly allowance of 2GB/mo. For 90% of customers, it is more than sufficient for uploading pictures, browsing the web, checking in on Facebook, downloading and using apps, and everything in between.

What are the levels of data I can purchase?

- 2GB for $30/mo, 5GB for $50/mo, and 10GB for $80/mo. Adding mobile hotspot adds 2GB of allowance and $20/mo on top of your data package.

How can I check to make sure I won’t go over my monthly allowance?

- An app called My Verizon is included with your phone. You can use it as well as a widget included to monitor your useage and check on it anytime.

I’m an exisiting customer. Can I keep my $30 unlimited data plan if I upgrade to a smartphone from a smartphone?

- Yes you can. It stays on your plan unless you ask to change the data plan.

What if I’m going to a 4G smartphone from a 3G smartphone?

- You can keep your unlimited data plan even if you are upgrading to a 4G device.

I have a feature phone with a $30 unlimited data package. Can I keep that when upgrading to a smartphone?

- Yes you can. It stays on your plan unless you ask to change the data plan.

Any other questions, email me.

What does this mean, what can this union provide. Well I have a opinion on what this means. When I saw the Skype acquired Qik I realized right away that’s how Skype was going to integrate video conferencing with computers and mobile devices.Qik’s technology worked great to stream video from mobile phones to the web live so that would be a great fit for Skype. Now Microsoft wants Windows to be the main platform used for all devices to do video conferencing so what better to buy the best company to bring that all together Skype.

Motorola Xoom™ 3G to 4G LTE™ Upgrade

General Information

1. Why should I upgrade my Motorola Xoom™ from 3G to 4G LTE™?

4G LTE is the next generation of wireless. It will provide network speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G when you’re within the 4G LTE coverage area. Verizon’s 4G LTE network is the fastest, most advanced 4G network in America. Maximize the experience on your Motorola Xoom with 4G LTE —download songs in seconds and movies in minutes and video chat live using Google Talk™ without any network interruptions.

Google and the Google logo are trademarks of Google, Inc.

2. When will the Motorola Xoom™ 4G LTE™ upgrade be available?

We expect to offer the 4G LTE upgrade shortly after launching the Motorola Xoom. For more information, visit our Upgrade Information page and register your email address. You’ll receive an email notification once the upgrade becomes available along with simple instructions for getting your device upgraded.

3. Where is 4G LTE™ available?

Visit the 4G LTE coverage map to find out the coverage in your area.

4. How do I upgrade my Motorola Xoom™ from 3G to 4G LTE™?

Visit our Upgrade Information page to view the Getting Ready Guide. The guide provides simple instructions for shipping your device to Motorola for the 4G LTE upgrade.

5. What data speeds can I expect once I upgrade my Motorola Xoom™ to 4G LTE™?

Verizon’s 4G LTE network delivers an average throughput of 5-12 megabytes per second (Mbps) downlink and 2-5 Mbps uplink.

6. How much will it cost to upgrade my Motorola Xoom™ from 3G to 4G LTE™?

There is no additional cost for the 4G LTE upgrade.

7. Do I have to change my plan once I upgrade my Motorola Xoom™ to 4G LTE™?

No, you will not have to change your plan when 4G LTE is complete.

8. Do I need to back up content on my Motorola Xoom™ before initiating the 4G LTE™ upgrade process?

Although it’s not required, we strongly recommend that you back up any personal content, such as pictures, files, applications, programs or personal information, before shipping your device to Motorola for upgrade. See the Getting Ready Guide for step-by-step instructions.

9. How long will I be without my Motorola Xoom™ while the 4G LTE™ upgrade is being performed?

You will be without your device for approximately six business days from the time you ship your Xoom to Motorola.

10. How do I track the upgrade progress for my Motorola Xoom™?

You will receive a confirmation email once Motorola has received your Xoom. The notification will contain a link to track the status of your return shipment.

11. Will I have to reload all my content and reconfigure my Motorola Xoom™ after completing the 4G LTE™ upgrade?

Although we do recommend that you back up all your content as part of the upgrade procedure, you will have the option of encrypting (password protecting) the content and configuration settings of your device as part of this process. This option will keep your content secure throughout the 4G LTE upgrade.

AT&T just announced it will buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion. If the transaction gets approved by the government and closes in a year as planned, it will create the nation’s largest wireless carrier by far.

While this is great news for both companies, it’s an awful idea for consumers – and I desperately hope the US antitrust authorities rake this merger over the coals.

An AT&T/T-Mobile merger at least makes more sense than the silly T-Mobile/Sprint idea which was being bandied about. Both carriers use the same technologies: GSM, HSPA+ and LTE. While they’re on different frequency bands, radios which use all of the relevant bands are becoming easier to build.

The merger neatly solves T-Mobile’s long-term problem of not having enough spectrum for LTE, the 4G technology which will soon be a global standard. It gives T-Mobile’s struggling parent, Deutsche Telekom, a gigantic cash infusion. And it lets AT&T once again position itself as the number-one carrier against Verizon Wireless, which leapfrogged AT&T technologically this year with Verizon’s 4G LTE launch.

AT&T is ahead of T-Mobile on building LTE. T-Mobile is far ahead of AT&T on building HSPA+, a intermediate 4G technology that fits right between the carriers’ existing 3G networks and LTE. Together, they could have a smooth and powerful nationwide network.

AT&T is no longer going to allow some online retailers from selling AT&T phones. The details are still a little fuzzy at this time, however word has come from both LetsTalk as well as Wirefly. According to a statement that LetsTalk sent out to their affiliates, this is going to go into effect on March 8th.

“We’re reaching out to let you know of an upcoming change to our carrier offering. Effective March 8th, 2011, LetsTalk as well as other web indirect agents, including Simplexity (Wirefly), will no longer be able to offer AT&T Wireless as a carrier option to our customers.”

In terms of the details coming from Wirefly, they did not give a specific date, however are still mentioning March as the time when AT&T phones sales will stop stating that;

“Unfortunately, circumstances prevent us from being able to deliver on this promise with regard to AT&T phones. It is therefore with regret that I must inform you that effective March, 2011, we will no longer offer AT&T products and services on Wirefly.com.”

All said and done, this seems rather disappointing. After all, companies such as Wirefly have been a perfect spot for those looking to shell out a little less cash at the time of purchase. Take Wirefly for example, they often had the phones priced a bit lower then direct with the carrier, but the also offered free accessories from time to time as well as free activation.
With that, the confusion comes in with which other retailers are going to be affected. And one that we have our eye on, but have not seen anything either way on, is Amazon Wireless.

I must also change my at&t links that I have in the top left corner of this Blog because I am also effected by this move. I was using Simplexity for at&t on the top right but now that link takes you directly to at&t’s site.

The only choice for the Apple iPhone with data is the $29.99 unlimited data. Verizon Wireless is ending the $15 150MB data package on 1/30/11 and the only choice for Smartphones will be the unlimited package. Verizon will have a new package for simple phones and that will be $10 for 75MB or the simple phones can choose the $29.99 unlimited data package.

Smartphones on Verizon will only have the $29.99 option for data. The introduction of the Apple iPhone was probably a significant factor on this decision.

That $15 150 MB data package was great for most Blackberry users. If you want to save money on your monthly bill because you don’t use much data, change your plan before 1/30/11 and that plan will be grandfather in. I would recommend any Blackberry user to check there data usage and change now.

There is also another great deal being lost because of this data change. The Palm Pixi can add the $15 data package and that also includes 5 GB of hot spot data on the Palm Pixi.

Get the Palm Pixi now!

I wonder if you get a smartphone before the $15 data package ends on 1/30/11 and switch to the Apple iPhone within the 14 day exchange policy if you can keep the $15 data package?

Users of the base MetroPCS plan apparently will not have access to such Internet content, websites, applications, and services. Users of the intermediate plan will have their use of such services capped at 1 GB per month, even though these users can continue to use their mobile broadband plans for other content, applications and services (most notably, some forms of web browsing, along with YouTube video viewing).

On 1/11/11 at 11am Verizon Wireless and Apple will announce the arrival of the legendary Apple iPhone on the Verizon Wireless network. The iPhone will have the LTE radio included so 4G speed is included.
The phone will go on sale in February and hopefully inventory of this device wont be like it was when at&t released each new version.
I have no news if it will only be carried in corporate stores. I am hoping Apple learnt if the want to sell more phones let indirect have it.
The problem with people unlocking and shipping the phone out of the country should not be an issue but who knows we do have other CDMA carriers around the world.

My prediction on twitter in December was correct. @mobilewiseguy I predict Verizon Wireless will get the Apple iPhone sometime around the end of january or February because (cont) http://tl.gd/7ddaen

A few months ago I began marketing for new at&t customers by using the at&t referral rewards. This is money just for referring a new at&t customer. First wanted to know all the details of this referral program so I signed up myself and started referring. It took me about three months to make $600, that’s the yearly limit from referrals. Referrals could be for any at&t new service for example U-Verse, DSL, Home phone, Cell phone service and DirecTV. The money is paid on Visa reward cards, which can be spent anywhere Visa is accepted. I paid my U-Verse, got gas, paid my Verizon Wireless bill, Sprint bill and used it at a restaurant. (When using the reward cards at a restaurant it automatically adds the tip on it so be aware of that.)

The only prerequisite for someone to be able to get the reward cards for referring new at&t customers is you must have a at&t service in you name. I have U-Verse and a cell phone with at&t. My girlfriend only has a cell phone service with at&t and she is already spending her reward cards.

When you refer someone you must refer the customer and enter the new billing account number from the service they got from at&t to qualify for the referral. This is where I come in I can get all at&t services for a customer and I will help you with the referral process. It does not matter where they get the at&t service from as long as you refer the customer before the order new at&t service.

When traveling overseas one of the best ways to save money on roaming fees is to buy an unlocked GSM cell phone and use a prepaid sim card from that country that you are visiting. Prepaid cell phone service is sold everywhere overseas in the airport and almost every corner block. The calls are much less expensive and most of the time you have unlimited incoming calls. The last time I went to Trinidad I spent $30 for the sim card and my minutes for the two weeks I was over there. If I had used my regular phone roaming it would of cost me $2 a minute and with all the calls I made my bill would have been in the hundreds for the roaming cost. I unlocked my Blackberry Bold 9000 before I went and used a sim card from Bmobile a local wireless carrier.

An unlocked cell phone can use any sim card from any GSM wireless provider. One of the important things to look for in an unlocked cell phone is the GSM frequency. Some GSM cell phone have one or two frequencies like the Motorola F3. The Motorola F3 is 850/1900 a 2 band phone that would work on any GSM provider in the United States since the U.S. only use two GSM bands 850/1900 it would not be a problem. AT&T uses 850/1900 and T-Mobile uses 1900 GSM networks but countries like Europe and the rest of the world use sometimes the 900 or the 1800 GSM networks.

Now the best phone to have for roaming is the quad band GSM, which is used for global calls where GSM network coverage is present. The Motorola V3 Razr works on these GSM Networks: GSM 850, 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. The Quad band GSM phone is always the best type of unlocked cell phone for traveling.

The Best Features

• Award-winning Multiview allows you to follow up to four channels at once and know the right moments to switch. Available for Sports, News & Kids, as well as ESPN® Game Plan, and ESPN® Full Court subscribers.• AT&T U-verse On Demand offers extensive library of On Demand programs and shows.• A truly interactive TV service in your area, with these great features:
1. Total Home DVR: Total Home DVR allows customers to record four programs at one time, manage and play back from any room in the home with a U-verse set receiver.
◦ Up to eight TVs can access recordings from the one Total Home DVR.
◦ The Total Home DVR can be programmed remotely from any remote in the home, or from any device with an Internet connection.
◦ Cable providers do not offer this type of total home DVR feature functionality. Most require one DVR per room.
◦ AT&T U-verse introduces a new DVR with increased storage capacity. The new AT&T U-verse THDVR can store up to 233 hours of Standard Definition (SD) or 65 hours of High Definition (HD) programming, more than most cable DVRs. Customers who select U-Family, U200, or U300 and do not order HD Service, are not eligible for the larger capacity DVRs. They will continue to receive the standard DVR. Existing customers that demand the larger capacity DVR and threaten to cancel should call
800-288-2020.

2. 120 HD Channels and Growing: All U-verse TV receivers are HD ready. The U-verse TV HD-ready DVR receiver, included with most package options, allows customers to pause, rewind and play back live TV in either HD or SD.

3. Multiview: AT&T U-verse Multiview gives customers the benefit of watching one large screen with audio and three additional picture-in-picture screens all at the same time. Multiview users can switch between channels easily. Total Home DVR customers can set recordings from any channel with the Multiview, which is an AT&T only feature. Multiview channel options include Kids, News, Sports and Subscription Sports.

4. Mobile Remote Access: Mobile Remote Access allows AT&T U-verse customers to never miss a favorite show by allowing them to set their home DVR on the go from any wireless phone, including iPhones and Smartphones or computers. U-verse TV customers can use Mobile Remote Access to browse current and upcoming program listings, schedule, and view their existing Total Home DVR programming. Mobile Remote Access uses 3G or Wi-Fi technology to provide the ability to manage the DVR and TV Guide into a single integrated application.

This the latest news I got on the OS updates for the Motorola Backflip.

The software update (13.37) has been approved. When we spoke last, I mentioned that had we actually submitted a second update that further improves SMS performance which slightly delayed the TA of the load.

The new software patch is being pushed out as we speak and should have already began hitting handsets. Keep in mind, not all handsets will receive the upgrade immediately. It is a ramp up process that should take no more than a few weeks.

All handsets that are being sold in store have the newest load and have had it for a good week or so

. There is also a
$20 price reduction to $79.99 retail with a 2 year that was effective nationally yesterday.

For Android 2.1, we are still targeting Q3. As soon as I have a more solid timeline, I will make sure to share it.

AT&T has a new package for texting when roaming overseas. The package cost $10 and gives you 50 free out going messages. That breaks it down to $.20 a message and anything over the 50 included in that package is $.40.

The incoming text that you receive when roaming internationally is bill at your current home package. That means if you have unlimited text you can receive unlimited text when roaming internationally. If you have the $5 200 message package at home then that 200 would apply for your incoming texts when roaming internationally.

This was great news for international travelers because without the $10 roaming text package you will be billed $.50 for each outgoing text and $1.30 for each MMS (pictures, video) messages.

For more information on this and any other of the roaming packages call AT&T international department @ 877-707-9208

I have customers always asking me what does 5 Gigabytes of data mean. This is the allotted amount of usage At&t, Verizon, Sprint and most of the major wireless providers have set as the limit on the amount of data allowed each month for the data cards.

The cost is $60 across the board with all the major wireless providers but At&t charges more tax and fees than Verizon or Sprint. My Verizon USB Data card cost me $60.07 with tax per month and at&t would cost $73 per month with tax.

The chart on this post will show you the amount of email, music downloads and web browsing that can be done on the different data packages.

The lowest package of $35 is for 200 Megabytes and the highest is $60 for 5 Gigabytes.

AT&T charges $2 a megabyte for data on mobile phones that are set up pay per use. Not a bad deal for some customers but a great deal for AT&T.
Yesterday I was going over a customers bill and saw the were charges of $2 every month for data pay per use. The usage shown on the bill was 1 kilobyte of data per month.
I asked the customer what she was doing on the web and she told me that she hits the web button on the mobile phone by accident. This customer said she does not want that charge every month for an accidental push of a button. That button was place badly on this phone and many other AT&T mobile phones.

I could block the data on this customers mobile phone but this customer has an unlimited family messaging package that with the data blocked would not be able to send or receive picture or video messaging, which is unlimited with the messaging package.

This new billing procedure is unfair to customers. A lot of mobile phones have the web access button right in the middle and can be accidentally hit at anytime. A customer would have to call every month to get a credit for the $2 or block the data completely.
We need to tell AT&T to change the mobile phones so the web will not accidentally get accessed or change the way they are billing customers for data.

They could make it a 3 step process to log on the web and have a setting which can change the 3 step to a one step for advanced users. Its not like the have to invent a program or develop a new technology.

AT&T will increase their ARPU with deceptive billing practices once more. This new billing of data change should allow customers to break contract because of the contract being changed by AT&T.

Recently Sprint change something in their contract and allowed customer to cancel without penalty because of the change.

Letter to 27,625,631 Nav4All navigation customers

Dear Customers,

It is with the deepest regret that we hereby notify you that the
global navigation of Nav4All and the Tracking & Tracing will go
offline in 3 days. The reason for the same is that the data licence
agreement with Navteq (a 100% Nokia subsidiary) was not extended, in
a totally unexpected manner. It is not possible to implement data
from another supplier in our Nav4All systems within the short term.
The Nav4All navigation system was developed for Navteq data. Nav4All
has therefore been constrained to stop.

We greatly regret the fact that we have to suspend the operation of
our service. With your help, we have developed Nav4All into a global
product with 27.5 million users in 56 languages, in 5 years. This has
made Nav4All the largest navigation supplier. This large number of
users also has to do with the fact that Nav4All works on hundreds of
different mobile telephones of many makes such as Blackberry, Sony
Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, Android, HTC, Nokia, LG, Iphone, Ipod
etc.

After 5 years of testing and market development, we witnessed rapid -
in fact, exponential – growth during the last two years. That growth
was reported in the licence reports to Navteq. In mid-December 2009,
the global coverage was extended to include the Philippines, Morocco
and Kenya.

Please contact the Nav4All support desk in case you have any
questions: www.nav4all.com/support. If there is any further
information from Nav4All concerning the subject of this letter, the
same will be published on our website: www.nav4all.com. For reasons
of privacy, Nav4All does not have the email addresses of all its
customers, and we therefore request you to forward this email to the
maximum extent possible, in order to ensure that everyone is
informed.

This morning Ralph de la Vega discussed the state of AT&T’s Mobility and Consumer Markets business at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media and Communications Conference in New York City. The conference featured senior executives from more than 100 leading media and telecommunications companies from around the globe.

A replay of de la Vega’s remarks can be found here (select Windows Media Player), and look for a brief video interview with him to be posted on Insider Thursday afternoon. Here’s a brief recap of his presentation:

Our leadership position in wireless
Aggressive focus on network investments and improvements
Best technology path forward
Our emerging devices leadership
Strong U-verse TV growth
The power of One AT&T
What sets AT&T apart
AT&T’s leadership position in wireless, especially wireless data

Our wireless growth is impressive. Over the past year, in a weak economy, we led the U.S. wireless market in net adds and increased our subscriber base by more than 6 million customers. Compared to our major U.S. competitors last quarter, we were:

#1 in gross subscriber additions
#1 in total net adds
#1 in postpaid net adds
#1 in smartphones
#1 in total wireless revenue growth
#1 in total churn
#1 in postpaid ARPU (average revenue per user/month)
and in postpaid ARPU growth
What’s driving these results? Excellent nationwide coverage. A strong network handling unprecedented data traffic. Great marketing. A terrific device line-up. And our smart technology decision a few years ago to go with GSM, the global network standard. And most importantly, our strategy to put wireless data services — and advanced wireless data devices — at the center of our customer experience. As a result, twice as many smartphone customers have chosen AT&T than any of our competitors.

Our focus on network investment and improvements

To deliver on the great potential of mobile data, we have an aggressive network investment program to further enhance our wireless network and customers are benefiting. There’s always more to be done, but we have a high sense of urgency and are on the right track.

When you look at drive-test results by an independent third party:

On a national basis, our 3G data throughput speeds are faster than the competition.
Based on independent drive-test data, the difference between AT&T and the industry leader on a national level on dropped call percentages is less than 2/10ths of a percentage point…which translates to a difference of less than two calls out of 1,000.
Root Wireless, a new, independent network performance monitoring company not affiliated with AT&T, just released data comparing wireless carriers in several markets including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. The data showed our 3G network outpaced Verizon’s, producing far fewer peaks and valleys in network capacity and much greater data speeds.
Our own internal metrics tell the same story. Over the past year, our internal network performance measurements indicate overall quality is up more than 25 percent.

These improvements reflect a number of initiatives, including near-completion of our 850 MHz spectrum to 3G — that delivers strong in-building coverage. We are adding some 2,000 new cell sites this year, adding 100,000 new circuits to strengthen backhaul, doubling our number of fiber-served cell sites this year. And there’s much more to come. We will continue to be aggressive in investing to strengthen network performance.

Best technology path to capture data growth

The mobile data revolution is still in its infancy…there’s huge opportunity ahead of us…and the great news from our perspective is that our technology path puts us in the best position to capture that growth going forward.

When you compare our path forward with that of our CDMA peers, there’s a major difference that involves technology and timing. It comes from HSPA 7.2, which is largely a software enhancement for GSM-based networks. HSPA 7.2 speeds are a major step up — they double theoretical peak speeds. We already have the fastest 3G network in the U.S., based on independent tests. With 7.2, the nation’s fastest network is getting even faster.

Most important? HSPA 7.2 is ready now — and we are deploying it now. We will have this technology up and running in six markets by the end of the month…and we plan to be launched in 25 of our top 30 markets by the end of second quarter next year.

Customers will see the difference and experience the benefits of 7.2 very soon. We already have more than a dozen HSPA 7.2 compatible devices, including iPhone 3GS, feature phones, smartphones, laptop devices, with more to come.

It’s easy to talk about LTE, but it will be some time before we see a rich set of devices to run on that technology. Meanwhile, HSPA 7.2 is being adopted and deployed around the world…devices are coming on board quickly…and we believe customers will be thrilled with the speeds. It’s an important competitive advantage for us over the next few years.

When you put it all together, HSPA 7.2 already has a rich set of devices and provides a customer-friendly transition path to LTE…combined with our industry-leading Wi-Fi coverage, we are putting in place the industry’s most powerful set of network capabilities for mobile data connectivity. That’s exciting for us…for customers…and a major opportunity.

U-verse TV growth

Lots of good news about U-verse this year. We surpassed the 2 million customer mark today.

Our deployment is on track: We now pass more than 20 million living units, and are on track with our plan to pass 30 million by the end of 2011.

Our operational metrics continue to improve… install times and intervals continue to move in the right direction — and we surpassed the 2 million customer mark today.

And most importantly, U-verse is delivering in a big way for customers.

We ranked highest in the JD Power survey for residential TV customer satisfaction in the West and South regions, which align with our wireless Southeast, Southwest and West regions. This was the second consecutive year.
We continue to add new features and HD channels — and the technology has proven itself.
Across all eligible living units our U-verse TV penetration is now above 12 percent. In areas we’ve been marketing to for 24 months of longer, overall penetration rates are now more than 20 percent. And looking at homes marketed to, in green areas where we compete head to head with cable, our research tells us U-verse is taking roughly 60 percent of the TV flow share

Our emerging devices leadership

Our network today handles two times as many smartphones as any of our competitors. And our postpaid integrated device penetration is still in the low 40-percent range. So there’s still huge upside potential in integrated devices. Beyond that, emerging devices represent the next wave of wireless growth, and our network provides the connectivity.

Some time ago, we set up an organization devoted specifically to developing new products and new ideas in the emerging devices space…and that work has paid off.

Today we are the clear leader in emerging devices connectivity: like e-Readers and personal navigation devices. Plus we offer a host of net books. And in the area of machine-to-machine connectivity, wireless services is just getting started. Everything from medical monitoring to metering and industrial applications.

The power of One AT&T

One AT&T is a powerful advantage for us — to be able to offer wireless, broadband and TV solutions in a seamless, single and unmatched approach.

We can create integrated and converged services that combine wireless and wireline. We can take content and applications — many of them exclusive to AT&T — and make them portable across the TV, PC and wireless screens. We can combine customer care platforms, billing and support systems. That’s a powerful advantage for us, and it further sets us apart from the competition.

What sets AT&T apart?

Despite economic pressures, we have a strong growth record in key areas that will define the future: wireless, U-verse and IP-based services. We have a proven record of disciplined execution on the cost side of our business. We are strong financially.

AT&T has significant areas of opportunity ahead:

Best technology path to capture wireless data growth
Leadership in integrated and emerging devices
Upside potential in wireless margins
Solid momentum with U-verse growth
One AT&T

This information is from http://blog.telephonyonline.com

As Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ, NYSE:VOD) and AT&T (NYSE:T) argue on TV whose network is fastest and most ubiquitous, independent performance testing firm Root Wireless has put their claims to the test, mapping out the performance metrics of all of the big four’s 3G networks in seven major metro markets. The findings were surprising. Though AT&T has taken a huge public relations hit for poor coverage and capacity on its high-speed packet access (HSPA) network, Root found that it’s network performed best in almost every single category from average download speed to level of connection failure (See TelephonyOnline’s related analysis of AT&T and Verizon’s networks). Root’s complete market data can be seen after the break.

ADD A LINE TO YOUR FAMILY PLAN

All four operators, however, had their strengths and weaknesses. Sprint (NYSE:S) has the highest coverage networks on the books: typically 90% of its footprint receives receives signals of 50% or greater of full strength. But Root found that Sprint also had the highest data connection failure rate, as high as 15% in Seattle, while the rest of the operators kept their failure rates well below 5%. So while Sprint 3G customers are getting more bars consistently, they’re much less likely to actually complete a data session.

Though T-Mobile (NYSE:DT) was the last to deploy its 3G network, it has managed to build up coverage quite quickly. In five of the seven markets Root tested, T-Mobile’s 3G build out is comparable to its three competitors’. Only in Seattle and San Francisco does it significantly lag the others–surprising considering T-Mobile USA is headquartered in Seattle. Also, though T-Mobile’s HSPA network is much newer than AT&T’s–Cingular was the first operator in the world to deploy HSPA–it’s still much slower than AT&T’s. In several markets AT&T’s average download speeds were as much as double that of T-Mobile’s.

While AT&T seemed to run away with the prize in most of the performance categories, there was one area where weaknesses in its network design were evident. While AT&T had high signal strength in much of its metro footprint, that signal strength tended to fall off rather rapidly outside of those hotzones. In most markets, 30% to 50% of AT&T’s footprint received half-strength signals or worse, which in part explains many of the lack of coverage and capacity complaints AT&T has received from many of its iPhone customers. And that’s that’s to say nothing of Verizon’s most damaging argument: AT&T doesn’t offer 3G service to 25% of population.

I had a issue yesterday when a customer of mine had one of there emails going to there Blackberry stopped. It started late at night with a email from Blackberry stating that they need to validate the email. She did validate the email by entering the new password and got the confirmation email stating that emails would be received in 20 minutes but she never got her emails to her Blackberry Bold. She kept getting a email every few hour asking her to validate her account and she kept on validating it with the same response but no emails. This customer also had an AOL email that worked properly and never stopped. When she finally called me I went through some trouble shooting with, I had her re-register the Blackberry on the network, send the service books, and I deleted the email and added it back again. When I added it back it show successful but the same issue was going on no emails were getting to the Blackberry. I told her to call her IT department that maybe they made a change that need to be done on her Blackberry device. The company has an exchange server but this customer was using her web mail not the server. Her IT department told her nothing was different and it had to be on the Blackberry side. I realized then we would need to contact Blackberry support to help us and I dreaded that because it takes an hour with AT&T before they finally transfer you to Blackberry support.
When you call customer service they have to go through a protocol before transferring the customer to Blackberry support. They start by asking you simple questions like how many bars you have on your device, if you see 3G, if you have the data feature for the Blackberry and other basic trouble shooting questions. I had made a 3 way call to Blackberry to help this customer as she was at work at the bank which was the email that was having the issue. So I had told the AT&T representative that I already had done trouble shooting to the Blackberry and the issue had to be fixed by Blackberry, but no matter what they have to go through with this protocol. The representative then must transfer you to technical support and after technical support asked there questions they then transfer you to data technical support. Data technical support must go through another series of question then after all that the finally contact Blackberry support. This all took an hour while I was on the phone with the three way call and since I originated the call I could not get off the line. Blackberry located in Canada and that’s where the representative was located that was helping us. The Blackberry representative did the same trouble shooting that I had done and also removed the email and added it to one of there test devices. They stated that it worked on there test device but their device was not using the banks server and that the issue was the banks server had a firewall blocking the IP address. This whole call had reached 2 hours and a half by now and my store was getting busy so I left the phone on mute and let Blackberry and the customer continue with the trouble shooting. I did pick up the phone close to the 3 hour mark to see what progress was made. I heard them saying it is on the server side of the bank and the IT guys need follow these instructions for the email to be sent to the Blackberry. www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11036 is the link sent by Blackberry but it has not been fixed yet and we are still working on this issue.

The customer with the issue came to the store on December 7th and told me it was the bank that blocked all Blackberry users that were not using there server. We had first done a work around for her to get her email with Blackberry web mail. I was so relieved to know that it was not something about Blackberry we could not fix.

So far this month has been extremely slow for us. We have 2 AT&T retail stores in South Florida, one in Miami and another in Weston. Both stores are rated very high in customer service and we are proud of our achievement but customer service does not pay the bills. Selling new activations for cell phones, U-verse, home phones, Direct TV and DSL pays the bills. Consumers are still not used to coming into a AT&T cell phone store to order home services and not everyone has U-verse available in there neighborhood. So our main business is still cell phone sales.
I hate to repeat myself but if we had the iPhone we would double our business but AT&T corporate will not let that happen until after the holiday season. What will happen on Black Friday is everyone will rush to the malls and the big box stores to get those great deals offered but the AT&T indirect dealers can not match deals that a national big box store can. Those big box stores can lose money or break even on the cell phone deal hoping that while you are in the store you will purchase other items, maybe a T.V. or computer. Whatever deals AT&T retailers can offer is at the mercy of AT&T they can raise the price or lower the price of our inventory and offer discounts as they please. I believe the industry is about to have a shake up, a lot of stores will close and the few that are left will not be as profitable like back in the days. When I first started selling cell phones companies like Cellular One and Bellsouth Mobility were paying $750+ commission per new activation now its 1/6 of that if you are lucky. I am lucky I can compete with any cell phone deal with my online cell phone stores.
The Best Cell Phones Deals Online

The Blackberry browser needs some help, I am hoping when I get the new Blackberry Bold 9700 that the web browser will be improved. I currently use the Blackberry Bold 9600 and the web Browser that I use the most is the Bolt Browser not the Blackberry Browser. I have tried Opera Mini and Media Net web browsers by AT&T and the Bolt Browser works the best by far. The web is the desktop version most of the buttons work and I can go to my Wachovia account and use the online services much better than the Blackberry Browser. The Opera Mini Browser 4.6 beta was faster but I could not copy and paste or do some of the functions that I can do on the Bolt Browser. Today I got an email sent to me from Blackberry about tips and tricks when I clicked the link it automatically sent me to the Blackberry browser as this is set as my default browser by the Blackberry device itself. I wish I could have the Bolt Browser as my default browser. Well when I went to the Blackberry site on the Blackberry browser to see the tips that Blackberry was talking about I could not see the text. I had to copy the page and paste it in my Bolt Browser to see the text and navigate properly through the Blackberry website. That was real stupid for Blackberry to send emails out to consumers and the links not work properly on there own devices. This is not the first time I have gotten emails from Blackberry that I could not read properly or open the links properly on my Blackberry device. I should not have to open the emails from my desktop and open the links from my desktop, especially the email on file with Blackberry is my Blackberry device email. I guess I need to forward the email to one of my desktop email addresses to see the email and link properly or send it to my iPhone. If the new Blackberry Bold 9700 does not have an improved browser Blackberry will lose more market share to the Apple iPhone, Android devices and other competitors. What Blackberry needs to do is have a browser like Bolt with video capabilities, Flash and Java. I was hoping Skyfire would have there browser ready for Blackberry devices by now. I use Skyfire on my Blackjack 2 and its a better browser the Window Explorer. I guess Google with its open source knows that if you give someone the opportunity to improve on something they will and there apps will only get better with time. Blackberry did buy a company that builds a web browser in the last few months hopefully that was there first step in improving the web browser. Now after emailing this post I need to use my Bolt browser to edit the tags and categories. The best BlackBerry available, the Bold 9700 packs a multitude of features into a sophisticated, slimmed-down design
Blackberry Products on T-Mobile

Last night I saw numerous commercials on the new Blackberry Storm 2, the new Google Android phone called the Droid and the Nokia Twist. These ads are in good timing for the holiday buying season because the phone that’s still on most peoples minds is the Apple iPhone so Verizon wants the consumers to now they do have another choice besides the iPhone.Verizon will be bombarding the media in the next couple of months with new products so stay tuned. Verizon Wireless Cell Phones

The new Blackberry Bold 2 will be available in my store November 9th. The price should be comparable to the Bold now but I really do not know the exact price until a few more days. I am predicting it will be $300 after mail in rebate. The Bold now is $200 after mail in rebate. The Bold will also have a new color it will be available in white, now that’s the older Bold not the new one.
I have a recommendation for all Blackberry users please back up your device. The software that came in the book will allow you to do this easily, as soon as you open the program you will see an icon saying back up and restore. Click that icon then connect your Blackberry device. The back up icon will back up all your contacts, email, sms, speed dials, bookmarks, Blackberry messenger contacts and more. The file can be saved in any folder on your computer. When you get your new Blackberry, you will go through the first couple of steps but instead of clicking back up you will click restore. For those of you who lost your disk you can download the software at www.blackberry.com on the left you will see desktop software click that and then follow the prompts. They even have new software for MAC users.
We will back up any one device and keep a copy on our servers in our at&t store in 2242 Weston Road Weston Florida or 7136 Bird Road Miami Florida. Call me if you want to set up an appointment at 7542735544 we will also take orders for the new Blackberry Bold 2 and any other at&t device. We also sell all at&t home services like U-verse, DSL, Direct TV and home phones.

BlackBerry Bold White(TM)

I was so happy when at&t told us we were finally going to sell the Apple iPhone in our stores last month. This would be just in time for the holidays, I was worried business has been slow and this would boost business tremendously. We turn away at least 5 people a day to the at&t corporate stores or the Apple store because we do not sell the Apple iPhone. This Apple iPhone has been the top selling cell phone for the last few years but at&t indirect agents like ourselves could not sell the phone or they would lose there license to sell at&t products. It was two slaps in the face when Best Buy and Wallmart got to sell the iPhone before us.
At&t had made an agreement with Apple so the indirect agents could not carry the Apple iPhone. I assume because it would keep the iPhone an exclusive product but that’s my assumption. We have been waiting impatiently for our chance to carry the most profitable item that at&t has carried in years but we just got slap again. We were told only one select indirect agent would get the phone this year. I will not name that agent but they do have over 20 stores in South Florida and we only have 2. It did not matter our stores was rated best in customer service, best in customer satisfaction and the best for customer repeat business. The one agent that will get the Apple iPhone was not as half as good as us but they do have pull because of the amount of stores they have. The at&t corporate stores were rated lowest on this scale for customer satisfaction and return business. I guess why would you go to an at&t corporate store that the employees are not knowledgeable and there customer service skills suck unless there was a product like the Apple iPhone that you only could get there.
We were told now next year in January we would be able to carry the Apple iPhone after the holiday season had ended. I hope the Google Android phones kicks Apples ass and when Verizon get the Apple products and I hope Verizon keeps on kicking at&t ass. Sorry at&t you don’t have any loyalty to your agents who do most of your business.

T-Mobile will have a $50 plan for everyone with unlimited voice, text, mms and data.
I will try to get more details soon.
All I know is with all the competition from all the different wireless providers like MetroPCS and Cricket, unlimited minutes for a fixed price will be the norm. I think $50 will be the marker and then contracts will end but the price for cell phones will go up. It will not be cost effective to subsidies the cell phones or pay high commissions to dealers anymore.
The thing that will set the wireless carriers apart will be there networks reception and data speeds. We will have many applications and the best network to handel these application will prosper. That’s is why the 3 top carriers are racing towards the 4G network called LTE.

—-original-en-es-20091013074935—-Subject: U-verse customer serviceMy U-verse has a technical support which is a 24/7 free phone support. If a tech has to come out to the house its a $55 charge that I learned the hard way. When they hooked up my Uverse television and internet they changed my wireless network and I could not use it. I did call the technical support on the phone to see what we could do to get it running, after 30 minutes on the phone they said they had to send a tech out to repair it. The tech came out and changed my network settings back to what I had before and everything worked again. It was not until my next bill that I saw the $55 charge. I called and said that no one told me I would be charged and it was there fault that the network was not properly set up before, they eventually credited my account for the $55. That was the first issue with U-verse technical support a few nights back my internet was running slow. I was getting between 3.0 and 12.3 Megs. I have U300 television and U-verse 18 Megs internet, so I called technical support late at night around 3am. The representative was from a call center most likely in India from her accent. We cleared a lot of files on my computer and on the U-verse system, the whole process took about an hour. She then said for my trouble she would give me free for one month U-verse 300 television, I told her that’s what I have now, she said no I have U200. I told her I have Showtime so I definitely have U300 because I would not have the premium channels, she then skipped talking about it again. She then told me to test my internet speeds. I was now getting a consistent 12 to 12.5 megs speed, I thanked her and then asked why I never get over the 12 when I pay for 18 megs, I was told I do not have 18 I have 12 and to call customer service in the morning to go over my plan. I asked her to please note the account with all the things we spoke about. I know personally how important it is to have the notes on the account so the next representative would know what’s going on. She said she did add the notes, I then asked her please make sure the notes are good because that is very important, I did not want to spend all that time on the phone again, I was assured it was done. I did call customer service the next day and the customer service representative was rude and told me I had U300 and 18 megs and this is a technical support issue. He then transferred me to technical support which was an American voice, I guess at night the calls get transferred to India. He told me I have U200 and 12 megs internet. I told him read the notes and he said there were no notes and the tech at night lied because the notes would have been on my account if she had put any. He then told me he would have to transfer me back to customer service and he would tell them what is occurring. A customer rep got on the line, by this time I was on the phone for 30 minutes. The customer service representative told me she had to call back to technical support and confirm the speed but I told her I could not hold any longer because I was at work and my break was over. She told me that they would call me back after talking to technical support for U-verse. They never called me back from U-verse technical support or customer serv
ice, I had to call the next day. The customer service representative now had seen in the notes that a supervisor was to call me but didn’t. This customer service representative gave me a credit for the 3 months of not having U-verse 18 megs internet speed and I told her don’t even bother to fix it leave me at the 12 megs now. This was a big mission and a normal customer should not have to go through this hassle. I am not a normal customer I sell at&t services including U-verse and I know what I am doing but I still spent hours on the phone and it took a couple of days.

I can’t wait for the Bold 2 to come for at&t. The new Bold would have more application memory so those apps on Blackberry app world can now be downloaded without slowing the phone down or the battery need to be taken out to reset the application memory. The new Bold will have a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus. I hope they speed up the camera also. The Bold now is slow to take multiple pictures and freezes when you try to email a picture and take another picture. The Blackberry Bold 2 will also do away with the track ball it will have a touch pad like the Blackberry Curve on T-Mobile. Customers using the track ball have problems getting the ball stuck or dirt gets into it making it hard or impossible to use. I am assuming they will enhance the media player as they have to compete more with the fun factor of the Apple iPhone.
The size of the new Blackberry Bold will look more like the Blackberry 8900 but with the keyboard of the Blackberry Bold. I compared my Bold to a Storm the other day and the Blackberry Storm had much better video quality and the music was louder play with the internal speakers. I watch a video of a air show the my friend took on Lake Michigan and I was impressed. My Blackberry Bold video camera is not as good definitely.
Blackberry Storm 2 will also be out in about a month and from what my Blackberry contact had told me its like night and day compare to the older Blackberry Storm model. I don’t have any exact details as yet but I am sure they are all over the net. I will post any news I get here.

T-Mobile cellular service was started when Deutsche Telekom, owners of the global T-Mobile brand from Europe and a U.S. company Voicestream cellular service partnered up. Before Voicestream came into the picture in South Florida we had Omnipoint. Omnipoint was the first GSM cellular service in South Florida. When I started to sell Omnipoint cell phone service the representative or mascot for the company was a Parrot. We gave away stuffed Parrots to some of our customers buying Omnipoint cell phones. The United States at that time had a few small GSM cellular service providers and one company started to buy them all up that company was Voicestream cellular service. Voicestream had the vision that GSM would be a big player because 75% of the world uses GSM cellular service. If you want to use your cell phone in other countries then you better have had a triband phone back then now you need a quad band GSM cell phone. Voicestream now had most of the GSM cellular service providers in the United States gobble up and here is where Deutsche Telekom one of the largest cellular service provider in the world forged a partnership with Voicestream and created T-Mobile cellular service. T-Mobile cellular service grew very fast as they would set up almost anyone as a T-Mobile cell phone dealer. I worked with master dealers to set up T-Mobile dealer locations and I got a piece of the commission on every new activation. I set up many locations like check cashing stores, dry cleaners, other cell phones stores not selling T-Mobile and a outside sale team. T-Mobile wanted to be visible everywhere and anywhere, they were not so concerned with the productivity of each location then, they wanted to be seen and heard. Great way for free advertisement back then but now image is a big deal. That’s why now Catherine Zeta Jones is the spokes model and stores have to look presentable and follow criteria to qualify as a dealer of T-Mobile cell phones. Now recently in the wireless news world we hear the rumor that T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom is looking to buy Sprint. Both companies need to do something to keep up with AT&T and Verizon wireless. That marriage of T-Mobile and Sprint is peculiar because they both use different technologies, Sprint uses CDMA and T-Mobile is GSM. I think they are looking into the future with LTE the new world standard of the future.

RingCentral bundles small businesses VoIP, call routing, faxing, voicemail, and more, saving over buying several services.

Zack SternPC World Tuesday, September 15, 2009; 12:19 AM

I’m scraping together phone service for my startup, mostly relying on mobile numbers that my contacts already know. But I’m considering Internet telephone alternatives, such as VoIP calling to save money.

Some online phone services combine the routing magic I like from Google Voice with more VoIP and business features. One example, RingCentral, sells a small-business tier of service with these functions in mind. RingCentral partly replaces traditional lines and partly supplements them.

On the routing side, the RingCentral website stores the existing phone numbers for you and your employees. When a call comes in, RingCentral rings one–or any concurrent combination–of those numbers. Extensive rules can send calls from certain contacts to certain lines. Or you can route calls based on the time of day, including sending someone to voicemail in off-hours instead of ringing your phones.

RingCentral Office includes a local area-code number, an 800 number, and a dedicated fax-line number for $99/month. Plus, the basic service includes an additional, direct number for each of four employees. (Cheaper bundles are available with fewer numbers.) You can add more incoming numbers for $25/month or upgrade to an 8-line bundle at $179/month. The service also lets you port over existing numbers so that you don’t have to update contacts with new details.

While I think I’d get the most out of these routing services, RingCentral also includes VoIP outgoing calls as part of its monthly base fee. You can make unlimited calls across the country on a SIP phone, while international calls cost extra. However, if you carry a SIP handset when traveling abroad, RingCentral will keep it locked to your local, home number, letting you dial back home without any extra charge.

Many additional features could answer your telephone needs. Voicemail boxes store messages online and can email them as audio files. You can configure a greeting and menu system for incoming calls. The RingCentral-provided fax line handles incoming and outgoing pages.

RingCentral’s flexibility is its best value, combining VoIP service, number routing, and more. Small businesses could save money versus buying many dedicated services. And since one company provides these functions–RingCentral even sells pre-configured VoIP hardware–you’ll save additional troubleshooting and configuration hassles.

Zack Stern is building a new business from San Francisco, where he frequently contributes to PC World.â

This post is information that I got from CNN and I am copying the info here and adding information together.
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — “I hope you’re talking to me on a speaker phone,” Devra Davis barks at me when I call her on my cell phone. “You’d better not be holding that phone up to your head.”
Indeed, I’m not. This is a good thing, because you don’t want to get into an argument with Davis on this subject. She’s the director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Environmental Oncology, and her group recently put out recommendations that we should be using a speaker phone or ear piece. The report says children, who have thinner skulls and developing brains, should use cell phones only in case of emergency.
And heaven forbid anyone should carry a cell phone in a pocket or clipped to a belt. “You’re just roasting your bone marrow,” Davis said.
Oh, boy. Another thing to worry about. Or maybe Davis is an alarmist. It’s so hard to tell. Although there are many large studies showing no connection between mobile phones and cancer, there are a few that do. As Davis puts it, do you really want to play Russian roulette with your head?  Explainer: Radiation fields and the brain »â
But if you do buy the cellphones-cause-cancer argument, you have to figure out the best way to talk on a cell phone, seeing as how most of us can’t live without them. Should you use the wired headset that came with your phone? A Bluetooth earpiece? iReport.com: Does your kid have a cell phone?
I embarked on a journey this past week to answer these questions and at many points have been very sorry I did. This is the mother of all “the jury is still out” issues.
Cell phones have been wildly popular for only a matter of years, and it can take at least a decade for cancers to show up. Studies contradict each other, and scientists bicker: Some will tell you with great conviction that there’s nothing to worry about. Others will tell you with equal conviction that an epidemic of brain tumors may be just around the corner.
The cell phone industry itself says “the overwhelming majority of studies that have been published in scientific journals around the globe show that wireless phones do not pose a health risk.” You can  watch the experts go at it on ”Larry King Live” » this week.
So what are we all to do until they figure it out? After enough interviews with physicists, engineers and doctors to make me want to stick my head in a microwave oven, one common line of reasoning emerged. Cell phones do emit radiation. No one knows definitively whether it’s enough to worry about. Mobile phones meet federal safety limits, but if you’re still worried, there are some simple steps you can take to lower your exposure to radiation.  Watch more on limiting your risk »â
1. Use the speakerphone
This was, without question, the favorite alternative of the experts I talked to. Nothing is near your head. “Hold it away from a minimum of a few inches. A foot or two is ideal,” said Magda Havas, an associate professor with the Institute for Health Studies at Trent University in Ontario, Canada.
Havas gives me a little math lesson. Every inch you can get away from your body, the radiation reduces very quickly. “Hold it out two inches, and the radiation drops by a factor of four. Hold it out four inches, and it drops by a factor of 16,” she says.
In other words, said Louis Slesin, editor of Microwave News, “every millimeter counts.”
2. Use a wired headset with a ferrite bead
No, this is not a piece of jewelry. A ferrite bead is a clip you put on the wire of a headset. The concern is that the wire itself emits radiation into your ear. The bead is designed to absorb the radiation so you don’t. They’re inexpensive and available at stores or online.
These clips are a favorite of Slesin’s. “It’s the way to go,” he said.
Another fan: Lawrie Challis, physicist and former chair of the Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research Programme, a government panel in Britain. “They did tests at the University of York and found that under even the worst conditions, if you use a ferrite bead, you can’t even measure the radiation coming off the wire. This common device kills the radiation.”
Of course, if the phone is in your pocket or clipped to your belt, all bets are off, because the phone itself will be radiating into your body. So if you’re worried about radiation, keep the phone as far away as possible, and Challis adds to do your best to make sure the wire isn’t touching your body.
3. Use a Bluetooth earpiece
A Bluetooth earpiece still has radiation, but it’s at least 100 times less than the radiation you get when you hold a cell phone to your head, Havas says.
Our experts were split on which was better: a Bluetooth headset or a wired one. Israeli government recommendations issued this week specifically suggest a wire; Havas likes the Bluetooth. But even she says not to wear it when you’re not talking; it still sends out a signal.
“Bluetooth is only whispering radiation into your ear. The problem is, some people wear it all the time,” she says. “At the very least, switch it from ear to ear so you don’t have too much exposure on one side.”
Michael Foley, Ph.D., executive director of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, says Bluetooth earpieces radiate 200 times less energy than cell phones. “There is no evidence that a Bluetooth headset has any adverse effects on its users,” he said.
4. Use a “hollow tube” earpiece
It’s just like a regular wired earpiece, except the last six inches or so — the part next to your ear — is a hollow tube. There’s no wire under the plastic.
“You’re getting the sound through the air. You’re not dependent on radiofrequency waves,” said Dr. David Carpenter, director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University of Albany.Health Library
Hollow tube earpieces can be purchased on several Web sites.
5. Get a phone with less radiation
Phone radiation is measured in specific absorption rate, or SAR. To look up the SAR for your phone, check this list on CNET.com.
You might think the experts mentioned above all use earpieces or a speakerphone. Not so. Several said they hold it right up to their heads because they use their cells so infrequently, they’re not worried about radiation.
Embedded video from CNN Video
(PRESS RELEASE) —- Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) research team has assembled the most comprehensive online consumer guide ever to cell phone radiation, rating more than 1,000 cell phones marketed in the U.S.With this free, user-friendly online tool, consumers can make informed decisions about which cell phones to buy.

I might of purchased 1 ringtone so far in my over 20 year history with mobile phones. That was my Verizon LG 8300 phone the ringtone was a Michael Jackson tune and that was before Mobile9. My main phone now is a Blackberry Bold and some models of phones on some wireless providers can not get free ring tones from Mobile9.
What I want you to do is browse the ring tones, wallpapers and other stuff on the site mobile9.com and when you find something you like write down the wap code then go to your Blackberry or cell phone web browser and go to this URL wap.mobile9.com/ from this URL you will see a link WML download click on that link and put in the wap code of the ringtone or whatever you are trying to download. Most of my ring tones and wallpapers come from Mobile9 its easy and free. I would like feedback after you have tried it, please. This wap code is for (Michael Jackson Earth Song) the part of the song I like for a ringtone 826703.

I have more application memory, it gave me about 10 more megabytes of application memory. This additional memory stopped my Blackberry from resetting because the low memory.
My camera default email address that I use to send pictures is now working with the email address that I set as the default.
The browser works a little better on some pages like Wachovia.com and YouTube.
The Visual Voice Mail feature is ok but I have been using YouMail and I had Visual Voice Mail with their service and it has more features for free.
I also got some new games on my Blackberry Bold that I have not tried yet like Tetris. The main problems I had with my Bold have been fixed with this update. I did the wireless update at night before bed because it took about two hours to complete.

I deleted the Blackberry App World from my Blackberry Bold because it used up my application memory. My Blackberry Bold would run slow and restart at least twice a day because of the application memory issue. This issue is known by RIM the makers of the Blackberry devices, thats why newer Blackberry models like the Blackberry 8900 have 4 times the application memory as the Blackberry Bold and the Blackberry Storm. When RIM designed these devices they did not consider the Blackberry App Store. But now having the application store online will save the memory on the devices. The new Blackberry Application store web address is appworld.blackberry.com/webstore The web address if you want the Blackberry app store on your device is blackberry.com/appworld downloaded from you Blackberry browser.

The 3G Nokia’s have been stopped from being sold in South Florida by AT&T in any of their retail corporate stores or indirect stores. These 3G Nokia models are shutting off by themselves and rebooting. The problem is not the cell phones but in the South Florida market only it is caused by a network issue on AT&T that only effects these 3G Nokia models. The other non-3G Nokia models are not affected by this network issue.
I was told by AT&T to take down any posters promoting any of the 3G Nokia models until further notice.
I did experience the rebooting on a Nokia E71 myself a few weeks ago. While I was playing around with the phone learning the features and downloading the Skyfire browser for my friend the E71 phone rebooted 3 times on me. My friend who owns the E71 Nokia phone also commented the phone reboots on him at the Dania exit on highway 95 all the time.
<br

I joined this multi level mobile phone company a few months ago in case it was real. I lost $69.99 sign up because it has not been able to produce anything it promised. I even lost my WordPress Blog because I wrote about this multi level company and my experiences with them and I had posted most of the emails I got from Buzzirk or Zero1. I read today an article about Buzzirk and Zero1 that I am copying below from Fierce Wireless. Zer01 Mobile, the MVNE that has been dogged with concerns about its service, said that because of a breach of contract it has cut its business ties with Buzzirk Mobile, which was supposed to distribute the company’s service. Zer01 did not specify in what way the contract had been breached. The company also sought to address questions that have arisen about its business and technology. Recent reports by IDG News Service have raised concerns about the viability of Zer01′s service offering as well as the business practices of marketing firm Global Verge, which owns Buzzirk.”Overall, there were a number of news articles and blogs that mis-reported a lot of the facts about each company and its services,” Zer01 spokesman Ron Dresner said in a statement.Zer01 said the business dealings of Global Verge don’t reflect on Zer01, and that the two companies are separate entities. The company also said ”questions about Zer01 Mobile’s patent-pending technology in the news are totally unfounded and motivated by marketplace competitors. Any visit to the patent office will prove Zer01 Mobile’s VMC technology registration.” Zer01 added that it cannot release information about its business partners, following questions about what carriers will support the company’s VoIP-based technology (neither AT&T Mobility or T-Mobile USA–the country’s two nationwide GSM carriers–are working with Zer01).Finally, Zer01 said it planned to defend its “reputation and integrity,” possibly with legal action.Zer01 has promised a mobile virtual network enabler service that could support unlimited wireless voice and data service via mobile VoIP technology running over an unnamed carrier’s GSM network.

Sent from the Internet (Details) Hi Guys, I hope that everyone is doing well. The last few weeks we have patiently waited for Global Verge and Zer01 to get their acts together and begin distributing what they promised. The 30 days that they asked are up, and with the following two sites publishing valid facts, we have decided to put our efforts elsewhere. We have since cancelled our autoship. We strongly recommend that those of you that have joined the venture do the same. Steve Lewis interim CEO fired:http://www.mlmhelpdesk.com/2009/08/07/breaking-mlm-wireless-news-global-verge-founders-fire-steve-lewis-and-crew-before-they-can-resign/ Zer01 terminated buzzirk and global verge yesterday, and they are suing them: www.dslreports.com/shownews/Zer01-Blames-Partners-Press-For-Problems-103946 <http://www.dslreports.com/ shownews/Zer01-Blames- Partners-Press-For-Problems- 103946> <http://www.dslreports.com/ shownews/Zer01-Blames- Partners-Press-For-Problems- 103946 <http://www.dslreports.com/ shownews/Zer01-Blames- Partners-Press-For-Problems- 103946> > We regret to inform you with this information, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Warmest Regards, Klarita M.The Taha Cellular Team

Klausner Technologies has sued Citrix Systems, Comverse, Embarq Holdings, Google, LG, and Verizon Communications over visual voicemail patent infringement. Klausner successfully sued AT&T and Apple over the same patent and received a settlement from the two companies. LG and Verizon recently began offering visual voicemail on the Voyager. Klausner was granted the patent for visual voicemail on 1996.
