Which Tablet is the best choice for you?

So you’ve decided to get a tablet PC, but you don’t know how to go about choosing the right solution for your needs. Here are a few tips that might help in your decision.

1. First and foremost which is the hardest decision….which operating system do I want to go with? Do I want to go with a chosen leader for ease of use like the Apple iPad? Do I want to have the freedom to add widgets withing Android Honeycomb? Or are you still addicted to your BlackBerry (in an Apple and Android World) that you want to continue the legacy with a BlackBerryPlaybook? This isn’t the easiest of decisions. The last quarter of this year we will see an influx of Tablet makers and this is one decision that cannot be judged by price and specs. Is it for social networking, remote access to your server, or just looking for an easy way to access your company mail on the go.

2. Next…this decision doesn’t get much easier. Which screen size should I choose? They typically range from the small 7 inch screen to the large 13.3 inch screen. Remember, that bigger isn’t always better or more expensive. Unlike desktop monitors, tablet monitors are meant to be small and handy to carry anywhere. Choose a screen that you are comfortable with, but remember sometimes the bigger they are the shorter the battery life will be!

3. What kind of performance are you looking for? Single core processor? Dual core processor or does it even matter? With a world of tablets coming to the table performance doesn’t always = price. The best “bang for your buck” might be in the middle of the road so avoid the most expensive tablets (unless you have money to burn) and check the consumer reviews of the models you have in your sights.

4. Are you looking for expandability? Determining what type of ports might actually determine which operating system you choose. Typical ports include Type I and II PC card slots, SD card reader, USB ports, VGA port, docking connector, microphone jack, and headphone jack, but Apple limits you to only the microphone jack so expandability is what your looking for than an Android tablet might be what your looking for. Take into account what you might be doing on this tablet in a year to make a better informed decision.  5. Battery life is more important than you may think! Here is a great Wiki that shows a complete comparison of the available models out there with their run times. Once you find a style and OS of your future tablet, make sure it meets your demands for battery life.

A month ago I went out looking for an inexpensive sound system for the house that would work with our television. I looked at surround sound systems at Best Buy but the prices were $500 to over $1000 and I was not about spend that much money on a system for music.
I don’t have a regular stereo in my house all or most of the music I listen to comes from my phone (Pandora, Slacker and downloaded music).

The solution I picked was an LG sound bar that comes with a wireless subwoofer and Bluetooth technology. The LG system cost $249.99 and it works with my TV and Sony PlayStation using optical cables and my Motorola Xoom, Motorola Droid X, Motorola Back flip and all my Bluetooth enable devices can play the music through this system.

I don’t have real surround sound but the sound is much better and now I have a wireless stereo using any of my devices.

Blackberry VM-605 Bluetooth Speaker Phone

The Blackberry VM-60s5 Speaker Phone Bluetooth works with any Bluetooth enable phone. I purchased one because I really wanted to use this device when we drove to Orlando. I am rented a few DVDs so we can watch on my laptop for the drive. The laptop screen is large and clear but the volume stinks in the car especially on the highway with the road noise.
The Blackberry VM-605 Bluetooth has a FM feature that plays the audio throughout the automobiles audio system so I was going to get a virtual surround sound laptop experience, no more low audio problem. I can also play Pandora and my saved music from any Bluetooth cell phone or Bluetooth devices with media capabilities.
The voice quality is good out of the built in speaker in the VM-605 device. The audio through you cars audio system depends on what stereo you have in the car. The audio in the Blackberry Bluetooth VM-605 states high fi not stereo quality.

The drive to Orlando was not like I hope for it started out good using the VM-605 for voice calls but when I used the FM feature the reception was terrible I had to remove the VM-605 Bluetooth from my visor and place it next to my car stereo for it to get reception on the FM stations. I was so upset that my plans were ruined the FM did not work properly the whole trip and I numerous other FM frequencies with no better results.

When I got back from my trip I tried to contact Blackberry for the warranty, they told me that they do not warranty the device the store I purchased the device from has to give me a year warranty. When I contacted the store they informed me that I had the warranty with Blackberry. The paperwork that comes with the Blackberry Bluetooth did not have any contact information concerning warranty. I was mad at this time so I contacted the store and told them to show me where the warranty was with Blackberry and how to get a warranty exchange, they could not figure it out themselves so they contacted their suppliers which was a company out of Miami call CCM and they said that they would honor the warranty.
It has been almost 30 days now and I am still waiting for a my new VM-605 Bluetooth device. I am using the Blackberry VM-605 as a speaker phone and it works perfect as a speaker phone mounted on my visor but the FM option still sucks. I am hoping the new device will work better with the FM option so I can listen to my Pandora in Hi Fi and watch movies with my laptop through out the cars speakers.
